United National Party (UNP) Deputy Leader Sajith Premadasa today rejected reports that he had agreed to a set of preconditions to be nominated as the Presidential candidate of the United National Front.
There were reports that at talks held between Premadasa, UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe and some UNP seniors that he had agreed to some conditions, including to scrap the Executive Presidency.
However, speaking in Matugama today, Sajith Premadasa said that he had not agreed to any conditions.
Premadasa said that he is not prepared to sacrifice his self-respect for the sake of being nominated as the Presidential candidate.
He said that he will not be a puppet by agreeing to any preconditions. (Colombo Gazette)
