Former Northern Province Chief Minister C.V. Wigneswaran led a rally in Jaffna today demanding international attention on Tamil issues.
The rally was conducted with the participation of politicians and others supporting Wigneswaran’s political alliance, the Tamil People’s Council.
The ‘Tamils arise’ rally sought international backing for a merged North and East.
The rally also called on India to intervene in the Tamil issue.
Participants at the rally also called for the release of Tamil political prisoners, an international investigation on enforced disappearances and the release of private land occupied by the Army.
