Cabinet approves amended National Audit Draft Bill

The cabinet, which met today, has?approved the amended National Audit Draft Bill, the Government said. The National Audit Bill has already been amended several times. The Sri Lanka Audit Service had been quoted in the media recently as accusing President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe of failing to get the Draft National Audit Bill passed in Parliament even though three years had passed. PM appoints committee to expedite action on fraud and corruption

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has appointed a special committee to expedite action on fraud and corruption. The committee will include Ministers Dr. Rajitha Senaratne, D.M Swaminathan and Ajith Perera. The Prime Minister’s office said that the secretary to the Ministry of Law and Order will sit as the secretary to the committee.
