MR claims CID focusing on Gota and not Easter attacks

Former President and Opposition Leader Mahinda Rajapaksa today claimed that the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) is focusing its attention on former Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa and not the Easter attacks.

Speaking at an event today, Rajapaksa said that the CID is investigating false allegations over Gotabaya Rajapaksa’s passport.

However he says the CID is not focused on the investigations over the deadly attacks on Easter Sunday.

He said that the Government is determined on taking revenge on members of the former Government.

The former President noted that following the defeat of the LTTE the country enjoyed peace and freedom but that peace was shattered on Easter Sunday this year.

He said that no one in the Government is taking responsibility for the attacks but are instead pointing fingers at each other.

Gotabaya Rajapaksa, the Presidential candidate of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) was also present at the event.

Sri Lanka to receive first tranche of IMF funds in two days
