FR case against Hemasiri and IGP postponed to July 25

The Supreme Court today postponed the case on the Fundamental Rights (FR) petition filed against IGP Pujith Jayasundara and former Defence Secretary Hemasiri Fernando to July 25.

A seven judge bench began considering the Fundamental Rights petition today.

The petition was filed accusing them of failing in their duties to prevent the Easter Sunday attacks.

The Attorney General’s Department said that it will not represent Jayasundara or Fernando in the case.
