Hirunika says several MPs ready to vote against President

United National Front Parliamentarian Hirunika Premachandra says there are several Parliamentarians ready to vote against President Maithripala Sirisena if an impeachment motion is submitted to Parliament.

She told Parliament today that if the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) had submitted an impeachment motion against the President she would have been able to secure the support of over 75 MPs for the motion.

Premachandra called for a show of hands of the MPs who are against the President and a few of them raised their hands.

She said that the President cannot wash his hands off from taking responsibility over the Easter Sunday attacks.

Premachandra said that the President must be charged for criminal negligence over the attacks.
