TNA issues ultimatum ahead of no-confidence vote

The Tamil National Alliance (TNA) today issued an ultimatum to the Government ahead of the no-confidence vote in Parliament.

TNA Parliamentarian Seeniththamby Yogeswaran said that the Government must take steps to fulfil its promises to the Tamils before the vote in Parliament tomorrow (Thursday).

He said that the TNA and the Tamils in the East have been demanding a separate administrative unit for the Tamils in Kalmunai.

Yogeswaran said that the Government had in the past promised to establish a separate administrative unit for the Tamils in Kalmunai.

However, he said that despite the assurances given nothing was done.

Yogeswaran said that the Government must ensure steps are taken to establish a separate administrative unit for the Tamils in Kalmunai before the vote in Parliament tomorrow on the no-confidence motion against the Government.
