Ambassador and Minister discuss reconciliation efforts

The US Ambassador to Sri Lanka and Maldives Alaina B. Teplitz had talks with the Minister of National Integration, Official Languages, Social Progress and Hindu Religious Affairs Mano Ganesan today.

The discussion focused on the current political situation in the country and reconciliation efforts of the Government.

The US Ambassador said that they had discussed how the US can continue to support reconciliation and integration in Sri Lanka.

At the meeting the US envoy had also assured US support to Sri Lanka as the country recovers following the Easter Sunday attacks.

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is to arrive in Sri Lanka later this month on a brief visit.

Secretary Pompeo is to express America’s solidarity with the people of Sri Lanka as they stand united against the despicable Easter Sunday terrorist attacks.

He will also discuss promising opportunities for US-Sri Lanka cooperation based on shared commitments to a free and open Indo-Pacific region. (Colombo Gazette)
