Former Northern Province Chief Minister C.V. Wigneswaran has called for an international investigation into the attacks on Muslims in Sri Lanka.
Wigneswaran, who has in the past demanded an international investigation into the war, said that the rights of Muslims had been violated after the Easter Sunday attacks.
The Tamil Makkal Kootani (TMK) led by Wigneswaran met for talks in Jaffna.
At the discussion Wigneswaran noted that Muslims are part of Sri Lanka yet they were attacked for no reason following the Easter Sunday bombings.
He said that the Muslims are a community close to the Tamil community and so he would be writing to the UN Human Rights Council and other international bodies seeking an international investigation on the attacks on Muslims in Sri Lanka. (Colombo Gazette)
