Inspector General of Police (IGP) Pujith Jayasundara made some startling revelations on President Maithripala Sirisena before the Parliament Select Committee (PSC) on the Easter Sunday attacks today.
He alleged that he was under pressure from President Maithripala Sirisena to transfer a key investigator of the Criminal Investigations Department.
The IGP also said that the President did not want him to attend the National Security Council meetings since last October.
Responding to questions posed by the PSC, the IGP said that the President had put him under pressure to transfer IP Nishantha who is attached to the Criminal Investigations Department.
IP Nishantha is the lead investigator in several key cases including the case on the abduction of 11 Tamil youth.
The IGP also said that he had not been invited for Security Council meetings since last October.
He had later found out that the President had said not to invite him. (Colombo Gazette)
