US tells MR sharing of intel key to prevent attacks

The United States (US) has told opposition leader Mahinda Rajapaksa that sharing intelligence between friendly nations is a key factor in preventing attacks like the Easter Sunday bombings.

The US Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Alaina Teplitz paid a courtesy call on Rajapaksa to express her condolences and solidarity on behalf of the US Government and her people for the terrorist attacks on Easter Sunday.

“I expressed my sympathies to all those US citizens who lost their lives in this brutal act of terror. The Ambassador, on behalf of the US Government pledged its full support to Sri Lanka against its fight against terrorism,” Rajapaksa said in a statement.

Ambassador Teplitz had stated that the terrorist attacks on 9/11 in the US have taught them many lessons and the US intelligence services have been further strengthened since. (Colombo Gazette)

More Indonesians leave Sri Lanka in special flight

More Indonesians left Sri Lanka in a special flight organised with the assistance of the Indonesian Government. The Indonesian Embassy in Colombo said that 347 Indonesians were flown out of Sri Lanka and the Maldives. Garuda Indonesia Airlines flew the Indonesians out of Colombo. Gazette issued removing MRP on dhal and canned fish

A Gazette notification has been issued removing the Maximum Retail Price (MRP) on mysore dhal and canned fish. The Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) had issued a Gazette notification on 17 March setting an MRP of Rs 65 for 1 kg of mysore dhal and Rs. 100 for a 400 g canned fish. The CAA has decided to remove the existing MRP on mysore dhal and canned fish via the new Gazette notification which comes into effect from 30 April. (Colombo Gazette)
