Former Sathosa chairman arrested at the BIA by FCID

Former Sathosa chairman Nalin Fernando was arrested by the Police Financial Crimes Investigations Division (FCID) at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) today. Fernando was arrested over the alleged misuse of state funds in 2014. He was produced before the Fort Magistrate and remanded till April 9. (Colombo Gazette)

Malik Samarawickrama resigns as UNP Chairman

Malik Samarawickrama has resigned as the United National Party (UNP) Chairman. Samarawickrama said that he has tendered his resignation letter to UNP leader, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe. The move is part of reforms taking place in the UNP. Last week?UNP General Secretary Kabir Hashim had resigned from his post in the party to make way for reforms in the UNP. UNP Working Committee decides party leader must not change

The?Working Committee of the United National Party (UNP) has decided that the party leadership must not change. The Working Committee reached the decision based on a majority opinion.
