Equipment used to prepare letters against President found in Ministry

Equipment allegedly used to prepare defamatory letters against President Maithripala Sirisena and incite hate among communities have been found at an office of a Government Ministry.

A computer and a photocopy machine used for this purpose have been found at the State Enterprise Development Ministry at the World Trade Center, the Police said.

The Police said that the computer and a photocopy machine have been seized as investigations continue.

Yesterday three employees attached to a Ministry were arrested with 600 letters defamatory of President Maithripala Sirisena.

The Police found that the letters had also attempted to incite hate among communities.

The three suspects were arrested at the Central Mail Exchange in Colombo.

They were handed over to the Colombo Crimes Division for further investigations.

Chinese national arrested in Meegahatenna

A Chinese man was arrested by the police in?Meegahatenna last evening with?Wallapatta in his possession. The police media unit said that the man was arrested while he was transporting the Wallapatta, also known as?Gyrinops walla, in his jeep.
