CPC calls for tenders to purchase oil

The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC), through newspaper advertisements, has called for tenders to purchase oil. Tenders have been called for Gas oil, 90 octane and 95 octane petrol and Jet fuel, the CPC said in a notice made public today. The CPC says the tenders are to meet supplies for a six month period beginning November this year. Tenders have also been called for only from suppliers registered with Ceypetco. President says no pressure on judiciary

President Mahinda Rajapaksa says there is no pressure on the judiciary from the government. Speaking to local media heads today the President said that if the judiciary is not independent the people will lose faith in it. Sri Lanka says no decision on Tamil Nadu travel advice

Sri Lanka has still not taken a decision to lift the travel advice on the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu, the External Affairs Ministry said Wednesday.
