SJB and UNP reach deal to work together in LG bodies

The Samagi Jana Balawegaya and the United National Party (UNP) have reached an agreement to work together in Local Government bodies, including the Colombo Municipal Council. The agreement was reached following talks held between a UNP delegation and Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa. Mahindananda Aluthgamage remanded over Chinese deal

Former Minister of Agriculture Mahindananda Aluthgamage was ordered to be remanded over a payment made to a Chinese company for a consignment of substandard organic fertilizer. The former Minister was ordered to be remanded until 26th May over the case filed by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABIC).
