Ten killed in van-bus accident in Mahiyanganaya

Ten people were killed when a bus crashed into a van in Mahiyanganaya early this morning.

The Police said that all 10 killed were those travelling in the van. Among those killed are three children.

The accident occurred near the Mahiyanganaya National College along the Mahiyangana-Badulla road.

According to the Police, the private bus was heading towards Trincomalee when it crashed head on with the van.

The driver of the van had reportedly fallen asleep while driving resulting in the accident. (Colombo Gazette)

Alert issued expecting more attacks over the weekend

The American Embassy in Colombo has issued an alert saying Sri Lankan authorities have reported additional attacks may occur over the weekend. “Sri Lankan authorities are reporting that additional attacks may occur targeting places of worship.
