Nursing officers told to transfer or lose jobs

Government Nursing officers who had been given notice to be transferred with effect from May 1st, have been warned that if they do not transfer by August 1st they may lose their jobs. Health Minister Dr. Rajitha Senaratne today instructed his officials to ensure the transfers are carried out effectively. The Health Ministry noted that despite the letters given in May some nurses have not yet been transferred.

Navy rescues two wild elephants at sea off Trincomalee

A group of naval personnel attached to the Eastern Naval Command rescued two wild elephants which were swept out to sea between Round Island and Foul Point in Trincomalee this morning. The jumbos were first noticed by an Inshore Patrol Craft on routine sea patrol. A combined rescue mission was later launched by the Navy and Wildlife officials to save the two wild elephants. The Navy augmented the rescue mission by deploying three Fast Attack Craft on patrol and a team of Navy Divers. According

MR tells Chief Prelates OMP a threat to security forces
