The Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) expects the next round of talks with the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) to be crucial.
SLPP Chairman, Professor G.L. Peiris said that the SLPP will attend the talks with the SLFP as scheduled on April 10th (Wednesday) despite being disappointed that the SLFP did not vote against the 2019 budget.
He said that the SLPP does not expect to force the breakdown of talks with the SLFP.
Peiris said that the SLPP will engage with the SLFP and discuss key issues on Wednesday.
However he noted that SLPP members were disappointed that the SLFP did not vote against the budget.
He also recalled that while the SLFP spoke against the budget during the debate they were absent during the final vote.
Peiris said that there was no point in the SLFP being absent during the final vote and speaking against the budget during the debate. (Colombo Gazette)
