UNP committee finds no evidence to back Ranjan’s claims

A committee appointed by the United National Party (UNP) to investigate claims made by State Minister Ranjan Ramanayake that some Parliamentarians use cocaine, has found that the allegations are unsubstantiated.

The report by the committee was handed over to the UNP Working Committee today.

Non-cabinet Minister Dr. Harsha de Silva said that the names of the MPs Ramanayake accused, was read out at the Working Committee meeting today.

“Kirielle, Eran, Ashu n lawyer Mahesh Kalugampitiya committee says Ranjan allegations on cocaine using #SriLanka MPs are unsubstantiated; need evidence. Probe launched on Rishad allegedly threatening doctor

An investigation has been launched on Parliamentarian Rishad Bathiudeen allegedly threatening a prison doctor. The doctor had allegedly been threatened by Bathiudeen, who is currently in remand custody. A complaint over the incident had been made by the doctor at the Magazine Prison.
