India hands over 155 houses to families in Bogawantalawa

In a special ceremony held at Bridwell Estate in Bogawantalawa, Hatton today 155 houses built under the Indian Housing Project were handed over to the beneficiaries jointly by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and High Commissioner of India to Sri Lanka Taranjit Singh Sandhu in the presence of Palani Digambaram, Minister for Hill country New Villages, Infrastructure and Community Development.

Several Members of Parliament and Central Provincial Council, senior officials from Plantation Human Development Trust (PHDT), Implementing Agency – Sri Lanka Red Cross, Bogawantalawa Regional Plantation Company and a large number of people from the region attended the function.

The High Commissioner in his remarks on the occasion, congratulated the proud owners of the newly built independent houses.

He underscored that the Indian Housing Project in Sri Lanka with a grant of over US$ 350 million (close to 50 billion LKR), was the largest Indian grant assistance project in any country abroad.

He also recalled that out of the total commitment of 63,000 houses, 47,000 houses had already been built.

Prime Minister Wickremesinghe in his remarks thanked Prime Minister, Narendra Modi and the Government of India for the development support extended to India.

Expressing India’s support for realization of Sri Lanka’s developmental priorities, he reiterated Government and people of India’s commitment to participate with the people of Sri Lanka in their journey towards greater peace and prosperity.

    Attacking,accusing or threatening Hon. Imran Khan, the new Prime Minister of Pakistan unwantedly will not be tolerated by the Muslim Umma of the World especialy of Sri Lanka.

    “The Muslim Voice” – Sri Lanka wishes to express our fullest solidarity and support to “PAKISTAN” in respect to the recent incidents that took place in “Paluwama” on February 14th., 2019. This is especially in gratitude to the extra ordinary International Relations and Military support extended to Sri Lanka our “Maathruboomiya” by Pakistan to crush the worlds ruthless terrorist organization, the LTTE nutured and cultured by India and RAW over a period of 30 years to destory our peacefull Nation during the period 1979 to 2009.

    “The Muslim Voice” fully denounces the “onslaughter of false media propoganda” carried out by India and the Indian social media, especially via “youtube” and “Netflix”.

    “The Muslim Voice” is of the view that:
    Without producing concrete evidence that Pakistan instigated or is behind this attack, accusing Pakistan of this crime is unacceptable and cannot be accepted under any norms of International relations. India has to immediately applologise to Pakistan and to Prime Minister Imran Khan for making such publicity/statements.

    India should accept the peacefull hand of Pakistan and sit down to find/discuss what action is needed to maintain peace in the region, Insha Allah.
