UNP to probe cocaine allegations by Ranjan

The United National Party (UNP) has decided to investigate allegations made by UNP MP Ranjan Ramanayake that some Parliamentarians consume cocaine.

Leader of the House Lakshman Kiriella told Parliament today that the UNP had decided to appoint a committee to investigate the allegations.

Ramanayake had claimed that several Parliamentarians consume cocaine but he failed to reveal the names.

Kiriella said that Ramanayake has not revealed the names to the UNP leadership or Speaker Karu Jayasuriya.

He said that the claims were serious and so the UNP was investigating.

Kiriella also said that Speaker Karu Jayasuriya can conduct a separate investigation into the allegations. (Colombo Gazette)
