The former Chairman of the Kalutara Pradeshiya Sabha, Lakshman Vidanapathirana was today sentenced to 20 years in prison after being found guilty of taking a bribe.
The Colombo High Court sentenced the former Chairman to 20 years in prison, to be served in five years.
Vidanapathirana was arrested in 2012 while soliciting a bribe of Rs. 3 million to resolve a land issue in Nagoda, Kalutara when he was the Kalutara Pradeshiya Sabha chairman. (Colombo Gazette)
