University students who posed on Kiralagala Stupa released

Eight students of the South Eastern University who were arrested for posing and taking photographs on the Kiralagala Stupa have been fined and released.

The students were fined Rs. 50,000 each and released.

The Buddhist Information Centre had lodged a Police complaint over the incident last month and the students were later arrested.

The students had taken photos standing on the Kiralagala Stupa and then posted it on Facebook. (Colombo Gazette)

  1. There should be public signs on such sites warning people. As we all know there aren’t any. were fined Rs. 50,000, Not Long ago a dog charlie was burnt alive and died after the criminal broke into private property. and he got Rs. 5000 bail. What a joke the the entire system.
