Twenty-four Indians employed in Sri Lanka arrested

Twenty-four Indians who were employed in Ingiriya have been arrested by customs officers.

The Customs Department said that the Indians were arrested following a raid last evening.

Investigations had revealed that the Indians did not have valid visas to be employed in Sri Lanka.

The Indians were employed in a factory with another group of Indians but it was found that the 24 Indians did not have valid visas to be employed in Sri Lanka.

They were taken to the Mirihana immigration detention centre last night as further investigations continue. (Colombo Gazette)
