Gota says he is ready to face Presidential elections

Former Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa says he is ready to face the next Presidential elections if it is the will of the people.

Speaking at an event in Colombo, Rajapaksa said that this year will be an important year with Presidential elections scheduled to be held.

“We know Presidential elections will be held this year. I am ready for this if you are,” he told the gathering.

Rajapaksa said that Sri Lankans must put the country first before anything else.

He said that it is important to address social issues before addressing individual rights. (Colombo Gazette)

  1. Gota has a major Court case coming up on the 22nd of this month where he has been charged for corruption and misuse of public funds and the penalty is at least 10 years in jail. So, how can he contest for presidency? Then what about his upcoming cases on human rights violations and murders? He must be dreaming about being the next president!

  2. We are with you Sir. The Muslim voters are acting on their own now, NOT mislead by the “deceptive and hoodwinking” Muslim politicians, the All Ceylon Jamiyathul Ulema and the National Shoora Council of Sri Lanka and the Muslim Council of Sri Lanka.
