SLPP CMC member arrested over CPC incident

Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) Colombo Municipal Council member K. G. Kulathissa was arrested today over his involvement in the unrest at the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) premises in October.

Kulathissa was accused of preventing Minister Arjuna Ranatunga from performing his duties at the time at the CPC office.

A tense situation arose at the CPC office in October when some employees and others attempting to assault Ranatunga.

Ranatunga’s security guard opened fire injuring at least two people.

One person succumbed to his injuries in hospital later.

Kulathissa was produced in court and remanded till January 11th. (Colombo Gazette)
