Sampanthan says he is still Opposition Leader

The Tamil National Alliance (TNA) Leader R. Sampanthan says he is still the Opposition Leader.

He told Parliament today that he has not been removed from the post by Speaker Karu Jayasuriya.

Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa was named as the new Opposition Leader yesterday.

However, Sampanthan said that Rajapaksa does not hold a seat in Parliament as he had joined the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP).

Rajapaksa entered Parliament as a member of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) and the United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA).

TNA Parliamentarian M.A. Sumanthiran said that Rajapaksa was no more a member of the UPFA as he had accepted SLPP membership.

He told Parliament that it has been proposed that a select committee be appointed to look into the issue over Rajapaksa’s seat in Parliament. (Colombo Gazette)

  1. Mahinda Rajapakse will have to face at least three court actions;.

    1. Treason Trial for his unconstitutional act for 50 days as illegal PM

    2. For violence in Parliament for which he phoned Namal to bring Chilli powder.

    3. To take away his civil rights for his evil acts such as murder of Journalist.

    4. Having dual party membership.

Is such a person called a crook or a leader. The Speaker must suspend him immediately till all above mentioned and his other illegal matters are sorted in courts. Any commonwealth country cannot have such a person as MP let alone opposition leader.

Why were these matters not thought of by Speaker before he appointed MR ?
