Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) Ravindra Wijegunaratne was today granted bail on strict conditions.
Wijegunaratne had been remanded till today by the Fort Magistrate.
On being granted bail Wijegunaratne was warned not to threaten any of the witnesses involved in the case.
The Magistrate warned Wijegunaratne that if the bail conditions are violated bail will be revoked.
He was remanded after statements were recorded in court over Wijegunaratne’s links to the main suspect accused of being involved in the abduction of 11 youth between 2008-2009.
Wijegunaratne was accused of assisting former Lieutenant Commander Chandana Prasad Hettiarachchi of the Sri Lanka Navy to evade court.
Hettiarachchi is the main accused in the abduction and forced disappearance of the 11 youth. (Colombo Gazette)
