President Maithripala Sirisena today insisted that his issue with United National Front (UNF) leader Ranil Wickremesinghe is nothing personal.
Speaking at the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) convention in Colombo today, the President said that Wickremesinghe is not a suitable politician for the country.
“His vision is not good for this country,” the President said.
He said that Wickremesinghe also deceived the public in the North.
Sirisena said that he had informed the UNF yesterday that he will not appoint Wickremesinghe as Prime Minister even if all 225 Parliamentarians tell him to do so.
The President also said that Wickremesinghe had destroyed the United National Party as party leader.
Sirisena defended his decision to appoint Mahinda Rajapaksa as Prime Minister on October 26th.
He also said that he respects the order issued by court to suspend the functions of the office of the Prime Minister and cabinet.
President Sirisena assured that the political crisis will be resolved within a week. (Colombo Gazette)
