Sri Lanka to sign MoU to prevent human trafficking

Sri Lanka is to sign a Memorandum Of Understanding on the prevention of human trafficking.

The National Anti-Human Trafficking Task Force for the prevention of trafficking in persons was established in 2010.

The Task force has implemented various programmes for preventing human trafficking.

Accordingly, it was decided to implement a training programmes focusing on community Police officers to prevent human trafficking.

The Cabinet of Ministers have now approved a proposal presented by Minister Public Administration, Home Affairs and Justice Susil Premajayantha to enter into a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding among the Ministry of Public Administration, Home Affairs and Justice, LIFE Organization and British High Commission in Sri Lanka to prevent human trafficking.
