Former CJ’s husband sentenced in NSB case

Former Chief Justice Shirani Bandaranaike’s husband Pradeep Kariyawasam, was today given a suspended jail term of five years in the National Savings Bank (NSB) case.

Kariyawasam, the former NSB Chairman was found guilty of causing losses to NSB by purchasing shares of the The Finance (Ltd.) at under valued prices.

When the case was heard today the Colombo Fort Magistrate sentenced Kariyawasam and imposed a fine of Rs 200,000. (Colombo Gazette)
