Price of kerosene to be reduced from midnight on Tuesday

The Government has decided to reduce the price of kerosene with effect from midnight on Tuesday. State Minister of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development and Rural Economy Dilip Wedaarachchi said that the price of a liter of kerosene will be reduced to Rs. 70 from midnight on Tuesday. Wedaarachchi said that the price reduction was decided following several demands from the public, especially fishermen.

Sri Lankan fishermen arrested and remanded in Seychelles

A group of fishermen have been arrested and remanded in?Seychelles, the Sri Lankan High Commission in?Seychelles said. The Sri Lankan?High Commissioner in?Seychelles Tikiri Herath Gunathilake said in an email that the fishermen had been on a Sri Lankan registered boat named ‘Nuwan Putha’. They were produced before a local court and remanded.
