With polls on hold, UNP says Parliament must meet

Following today’s Supreme Court order the United National Party (UNP) says Parliament must now meet.

UNP Deputy Leader Sajith Premadasa said that they expect Parliament to be reconvened soon.

Parliament was scheduled to meet tomorrow (November 14th) but President Maithripala Sirisena through a gazette notice dissolved Parliament and declared elections on January 5th.

However with the Supreme Court issuing a stay order on the gazette notice today the UNP says Parliament must now meet on the scheduled day. (Colombo Gazette)
