President holds Security Council meeting

President Maithripala Sirisena held a Security Council meeting today after the Supreme Court issued a stay order on the President’s decision to dissolve Parliament.

The Defence Secretary, commanders of the Security Forces and Chief of Defence Staff and the Foreign Secretary attended the meeting.

The President’s office said that President Sirisena instructed the Police to ensure law and order in maintained and that the peaceful environment continues.

Meanwhile the Police said that the IGP has instructed all senior Police officers to ensure law and order is maintained in their respective division.

On Sunday President Maithripala Sirisena had said that a threat of violence on November 14th (tomorrow) was one of the reasons for his decision to dissolve Parliament. (Colombo Gazette)

  1. People in power are always surrounded by opportunists. These opportunists do not allow the leaders to take a balanced decision They enjoy power more than the Leader. That,s why Mahinda lost elections. Mahinda should not make the same mistake again.
