Mahinda leaves SLFP and joins SLPP

Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa left the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) and joined the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP).

Rajapaksa obtained the SLPP membership at his official residence in Wijerama today from SLPP chairman, Professor G.L Peiris.

Rajapaksa’s son Namal Rajapaksa and several other SLFP members also joined the SLPP.

Most of the joint opposition members who were in the SLFP and some other SLFP members joined the SLPP to contest the elections in January. (Colombo Gazette)
