President Maithripala Sirisena has told Speaker Karu Jayasuriya he is prepared to convene Parliament next week.
The Speaker told political party leaders and a group of Parliamentarians today that Parliament can convene next week.
A group of 118 Parliamentarians met the Speaker today calling for Parliament to be convened early.
The Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna, the Tamil National Alliance, the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress and the All Ceylon Makkal Congress were among the political parties, together with the United National Party who met the Speaker today.
The Speaker said that the President had informed him he is prepared to convene Parliament on November 7th.
However, the Speaker said the gazette notice has not yet been issued. (Colombo Gazette)
