United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) Parliamentarian Susil Premjayantha says Parliament is unlikely to meet on Monday.
He told reporters today that Parliament needs time to prepare to meet and there is not enough time to meet on Monday.
Premjayantha said that news reports claiming Parliament will meet on Monday were misleading.
President Maithripala Sirisena, last week, prorogued Parliament till November 16th after Ranil Wickremesinghe was sacked as Prime Minister and Mahinda Rajapaksa was appointed as the new Prime Minister.
Rajapaksa had said today that there was a likelihood that Parliament will be convened on Monday.
However Premjayantha said that the news reports to that effect were misleading and that Parliament was most likely to meet on November 16th.
He said that on November 16th the new Government will submit a vote on accounts in place of the budget for 2019. (Colombo Gazette)
