A tense situation arose inside Temple trees today as two “outsiders” entered the premises, former Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe’s media unit said.
Wickremesinghe continues to occupy Temple Trees claiming he is still the legitimate Prime Minister.
His office said that two people were detained by Wickremesinghe’s supporters inside Temple Trees after they entered without proving their identity.
A tense situation arose when the two individuals attempted to inspect and remove some of the items inside Temple Trees, Wickremesinghe’s media unit said
The two individuals had reportedly stated that they were sent by Rajapaksa’s office to obtain a list of the items at Temple Trees.
Wickremesinghe’s office said that the two individuals were later escorted safely out of Temple Trees and released.
Meanwhile a complaint was filed with the Police stating that two state officials who arrived at Temple Trees were threatened and assaulted. (Colombo Gazette)
