United National Party (UNP) leader Ranil Wickremesinghe says he is still the Prime Minister and that the new appointment is unconstitutional.
He said that under the 19th Amendment he cannot be removed by the President.
Wickremesinghe said that he has the majority support in Parliament.
He said that a no-confidence motion submitted against him in Parliament was defeated and that shows that he has the confidence of Parliament.
Wickremesinghe said that he will seek legal action against the appointment of Mahinda Rajapaksa as the new Prime Minister. (Colombo Gazette)
