JVP holds protest, wants early polls

The Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) today called on the Government to dissolve Parliament and hold early elections.

JVP Parliamentarian Dr. Nalinda Jayathissa said the Government has failed to fulfill the mandate it was given in 2015.

He said the Government promised the public several concessions but has instead imposed more taxes on the people.

Speaking to reporters at a protest staged in Colombo today,??Dr. Nalinda Jayathissa said that the JVP will hold several protests and push the Government to resign.

The protest staged in Colombo today saw heavy traffic in Borella, Fort, Maradana and the surrounding areas. (Colombo Gazette)

Sampanthan named new opposition leader
