The Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) has raised concerns over a public notice displayed by the Community Police Unit in Habaraduwa on a dress code for tourists.
The public notice shows women in a two piece bikini with a message urging visitors to dress appropriately and respect Sri Lankan culture.
The notice board gives the impression walking around in the beach in a a two piece bikini is not allowed.
“SLTDA concerned about the notice displayed by the Community Police Unit in Habaraduwa. “Dress code policing” is unneeded and unwarranted for tourists enjoying the scenic beaches of Sri Lanka,” SLTDA tweeted.
SLTDA said that it has taken the matter up with all relevant authorities and expect to see progress soon. (Colombo Gazette)
