Rainfall sees a drop, floodwaters reduce

The Department of Meteorology said that rainfall experienced in the country over the past few days had recorded a drop last night and flood waters had begun to recede.

The highest rainfall recorded over the 24 hour period ending this morning was around 109.9mm in Poddiwala, in the Galle District.

As of today, approximately, 435 families have been evacuated into 11welfare centers in five Districts due to flood and landslide risks.

The Department of Meteorology said that 12 deaths have been reported so far.
