Fonseka questioned by CID over Noyahr’s abduction and assault

Former Army Commander Sarath Fonseka was questioned by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) today over the abduction and assault on journalist Keith Noyahr in 2008.

Fonseka was questioned for four hours at the CID office in Colombo.

The CID has already recorded statements on the incident from former President Mahinda Rajapaksa and former Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa.

On 8 July 2008, the then Chief Opposition Whip, UNP Parliamentarian Joseph Michael Perera made a special statement in Parliament where he claimed the abduction was carried out by a special team operating under the then Army Commander.

The Army commander at the time these incidents took place was Sarath Fonseka. (Colombo Gazette)

TNA urges Power to push for accountability

The Tamil National Alliance (TNA) has urged USAID Administrator Samantha Power to push for accountability in Sri Lanka.
