Ranil says he will hand over the UNP to new leadership

United National Party (UNP) leader and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe says he will hand over the leadership of the party to a new leadership.

Speaking at the?72nd Anniversary celebrations of the United National Party at Sirikotha today,?Wickremesinghe said that he is preparing the party for a new leadership.

He said he will hand over the party to the new leadership to take the party forward.

Wickremesinghe said the UNP is undergoing reforms with the year 2030 in mind.

The Prime Minister called for unity in the UNP for the party to move forward. (Colombo Gazette)

Kandy Police probe fake news on Moderna vaccine

The Kandy Police have launched an investigation into fake news circulating on social media with regards to the Moderna Covid vaccine. Police Spokesman, Senior Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Ajith Rohana said that a complaint was lodged with the Kandy Police over the fake news. He said that the fake news had been circulated when the Moderna vaccine was being used on the public in Kandy. Another 2 million doses of Sinopharm vaccine arrives in Sri Lanka

Another 2 million doses of the Sinopharm vaccine arrived in Sri Lanka today. SriLankan Airlines said it airlifted the 2 million doses of Sinopharm vaccines to Sri Lanka from China.
