Passengers stranded following railway lightning strike

Passengers were stranded following a lightning railway strike launched today.

A two hour strike was staged against?State Minister of National Policies and Economic Affairs Dr. Harsha de Silva.

Railway trade unions accused?Dr. Harsha de Silva of threatening some railway workers.

The State Minister however denied the allegations.

Commuters using the train after work were stranded as there were train delays as a result of the strike.

A tense situation also arose at the Fort railway station when angry commuters confronted officials at the railway station.

Railway property was damaged during the tense situation with angry commuters demanding that the railway operations be handed over to the military or be privatised in order to prevent similar strikes in future.?(Colombo Gazette)

Harin denies claims internet speeds will be reduced

Minister of Telecommunications and?Digital Infrastructure Harin Fernando today denied claims that internet broadband speeds will be reduced.
