AG says referendum not required for 20th Amendment

Attorney General (AG) Dappula de Livera today advised the Secretary to the Ministry of Justice that the draft bill of the 20th Amendment to the Constitution does not require holding a referendum in terms of Article 83 of the Constitution. The United States Government, through the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), has donated 200 brand-new, state-of-the-art ventilators to Sri Lanka, delivering on President Trump?s offer of critically needed supplies and supporting Sri Lanka?s fight against COVID-19.
