President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe were today ordered to appear in court on October 9 in relation to a case filed against former United National Party General Secretary Tissa Attanayake.
The President and Prime Minister were earlier ordered in court today but the court was informed they could not attend owing to the cabinet meeting scheduled for today.
Attanayake had been accused by the President and Prime Minister of presenting forged documents to the public at the last Presidential elections.
Tissa Attanayake had claimed that there was a secret agreement between Sirisena, Wickremesinghe and Tamil National Alliance leader R. Sampanthan during the 2015 Presidential elections.
Attanayake displayed documents with the signatures of Sirisena and Wickremesinghe in 2015 claiming it was the agreement reached with the TNA.
However Sirisena and Wickremesinghe had denied the allegations and a case was filed against Attanayake. (Colombo Gazette)
