Mass protest by joint opposition postponed to September

A mass protest by the joint opposition which was to be staged in August has been postponed to September.

The joint opposition was preparing to stage the mass protest on August 17th against the Government.

All joint opposition parties and trade unions were to join the ‘Jana Balaya’ protest against the continued hardships faced by the public as a result of Government policies and practices.

However joint opposition Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa said today that the protest will now take place on September 5th.

He said the dates had been shifted as a result of the advanced level examinations.

“As instructed by ‘ජන බලය කොළඹට’ has been rescheduled to 5th September to avoid any form of disruption to the students taking the A/level exams this year,” joint opposition Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa tweeted. (Colombo Gazette)
