Two youth further remanded over pics on stupa

Two youth who were in remand for taking photographs while posing on top of a stupa, have been further remanded. The two youth had been arrested for posing on the stupa at the?Mihintale Raja Maha Viharaya. They were produced before a Magistrate today who ordered that they be further remanded till February 27th. Justice Minister defends Angunakolapelessa prison incident

Justice Minister Thalatha Athukorala today defended the actions of prison guards at the Angunakolapelessa prison over an assault incident. The Minister told Parliament that the prison guards had acted within their rights in order to control a situation which arose in the prison. The Minister was responding to a question raised in Parliament today by the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna.
