President inspects Chinese funded housing project in Aranayaka

President Maithripala Sirisena inspected the Chinese funded housing project in Aranayaka which was built to house the families affected by the devastating landslide in Aranayaka in 2016.

President Sirisena, the Chinese Ambassador to Sri Lanka?Cheng Xueyuan and several Government Ministers accompanied the President during the visit.

The President’s office said that?President Sirisena spoke to the families living in the area and discussed the issues they face.

The Chinese Government funded the construction of 100 houses in Aranayaka at a cost of Rs. 217 million. (Colombo Gazette)

Levy on dubbed foreign films, tele-dramas increased

The levy charged on dubbed foreign films, tele-dramas and commercials has been increased, the Finance Ministry said today. Accordingly the?levy has been increased to Rs. 150,000 from Rs. 90,000. The move is seen as an attempt to promote local productions. (Colombo Gazette)
